Catholic Young Adults of Charlestown (CYAC)

by Neal Boyle last modified 2009-09-24 08:26

Welcome to our community of young adults -- people in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s who are single, married, or with children.

Our Mission and Activities

Here's a way for young adults – people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, married and single – to experience their faith in more ways than just at Sunday Mass. We have a very active Young Adult Community (CYAC) here at St. Mary-St. Catherine of Siena Parish, led by a team of young adult parishioners. Share your enthusiasm, talents and time. Strengthen and revitalize your faith. Meet and serve our neighbor and one another. Connect your faith to your everyday life, and spend time with people who share your values.  Come to a CYAC sponsored event and see what a great group of people we have gathered here at St. Mary-St. Catherine of Siena Parish!

Most succinctly, our mission is to engage, strengthen and share our faith through fellowship, service, spiritual growth, and worship. Take a moment to read through our mission statement.

ON-GOING:

  •  Parish Christmas Choir

Will you be in Charlestown for the Christmas Season? Can you carry a tune (or rock out karaoke night at your favorite local pub?).  Do you ever find yourself singing at church, but wish others around you would too?

If you've answered "Yes" to any of these questions, CYAC invites you to join the Parish Christmas Choir.    Questions about joining?  Please call the Parish Center at 617-242-4664 .

  • RCIA

Sometimes, it just takes an invitation to welcome someone back.  The RCIA is underway at St. Mary-St. Catherine's Parish.  If you know anyone who is interested in being Catholic or Christian, has thought about receiving the Sacraments for the first time (Baptism, Reconciliation, Communion and Confirmation), or if you're just interested in the Right of Christian Initiation, please stop by the the Parish Center on Wednesdays at 6:30pm.  If you'd like more information, please email contactcyac@gmail.com and we'll get you in touch with the appropriate folks at the Parish.

  •
  •  .... and of course, CYAC can use your help...

Is there some event you really wish CYAC had planned? Is there something we're missing or something we're doing right?  If you want to be part of the CYAC team, hit up Neal Boyle after the 6pm Mass or email him at nboyle@alumni.nd.edu

Connect at the 6pm Mass at Saint Mary's Church

  • CYACers gather together every Sunday at the 6pm Mass at Saint Mary's Church at the corner of Warren and Winthrop Streets, in the Historic Gaslight District of Charlestown. Come to Mass to find out what CYAC is doing next. We're always doing exciting things -- from BBQs to Ultimate Frisbee, Wine Tastings to our own Catholic Conversations series (CYAC's version of "Theology-on-Tap"), service projects to serving breakfast... On top of that, invite a friend!
  • Anyone interested in singing? Any young adults interested in singing and cantor at the 6pm Mass should contact the Parish Director of Music and Liturgy, Leonardo Ciampa. Practice happens 1/2 hour before the 6pm Mass at St. Mary's Church. Please enter through the Soley St. side door.
  • CYAC is always looking for new greeters, meeters, lectors, ushers, and eucharistic ministers to help out at the Young Adult mass. Interested? Know someone who is interested? Email contactcyac@gmail.com.

New to Charlestown?
New to Boston?
New to being Catholic?

  • We're always looking... and you're always welcome. Do you know any young adults in and around Charlestown who have been looking to connect with other young Catholics in the area? Have them email contactcyac@gmail.com and one of the CYACers will get back to you!
  • All are welcome! Don't forget to invite your friends and family to Mass and get involved. Share your faith! There's plenty of Masses at St. Mary-St. Catherine of Siena Parish to chose from. See the Mass Schedule for details. Better yet Get Connected!

Questions, comments, Want to get involved?
